Hi friends,
I’ve been mulling over starting this blog for a few years now and after getting a kick in the đ from some friends (thanks, guys), I’ve decided to give it a whirl!
For background, letâs start with the classic ice breaker question – if you were an animal what would you be?
For me, it would hands down be a platypus. For those of you who are unfamiliar, to quote National Geographic, âthe animal is best described as a hodgepodge of more familiar species: the duck, beaver, and otter.â
Similar to a platypus, Iâve always felt Somewhere In Between (yes, let’s just acknowledge that I started a sentence with “similar to a platypus”đ…)
- A first generation Indian American – straddling the world Iâve grown up in with my heritage
- A wife in an multicultural marriage – fusing two cultures to create one incredible family
- A former marketer exploring a new career – on a journey to create the life I want, while learning from my previous path
Chances are that at some point in your life youâve felt in between. More often than not, when weâre in an undefined â in betweenâ place we are labelled as confused, in crisis, or merely an outsider. It’s time to change that stigma.
I started this blog to celebrate all of the lovely platypuses of the world. If youâve ever felt in between culturally, in your career, with life stages, or simply see two sides of the coin – Somewhere In Between is a place for you to find community and know youâre not alone. Itâs a place to share vulnerable moments that (hopefully) encourage us to celebrate the things that make us unique and to help navigate all the crazy things life throws our way. From relationships to careers and everything in between, I can’t wait to share these experiences with you and learn from each other! What are some areas in your life you’ve felt in between? Drop me your experiences in the comments!
Special thank you to the friends and family who went out of their way to help create Somewhere in Between – your advice and encouragement means the world. It’s amazing what happens when we support each other – and we plan to do just that with this blog.
Cheers!
Neha
