Is vacation you the best version of yourself?

If you answered yes, you’re not alone. After returning back from my two week vacation, I realized many of us wait for an occasion or vacation to have an excuse to enjoy ourselves. That’s just ridiculous if you actually think about it. Officially changing that mindset.

Here’s 5 ways you can live your best vacation life every damn day:

enjoy your surroundings

When’s the last time you actually took time to appreciate your surroundings?

On vacation, we tend to be more present. We notice things like nature’s beauty, architecture, local businesses, parks, people, etc. However, when we’re in our daily lives, we bury our attention in our phones and/or to do lists.

Make some time to look up and around you. Notice even the smallest things: a cute coffeeshop, flowers blooming or the fresh air in the morning. Anything around you that brings you joy – acknowledge it.

Disconnect from technology

Look up, my friends. Literally.

That email, text and mindless Instagram scroll can wait. Carve out time to be present. If you’re at dinner, BE AT DINNER. If you’re going for a walk, GET OFF THAT PHONE.

Aggressive caps aside, give yourself the space to disconnect from the noise and truly be in the moment.

Indulge once in a while

We’re all taught to prioritize our health and wellness, but guess what? Part of well-being includes indulging in your life. You were not put on this earth to count your macros, perfect your plank and die.

Grab the occasional ice cream cone, relish the deep dish pizza, or whatever else your heart desires.

Enjoy the (caloric) richness in your life. Doing this in moderation makes it enjoyable and sustainable.

explore something new

Shake up your routine.

Explore a new neighborhood, try a new workout class, eat a new cuisine or learn a new language. Just stepping outside your usual patterns can elicit feelings of excitement and refreshment, which are some of the main benefits of going on vacation.

SLOW DOWN

Let’s talk cold hard truth – you will never get this moment back again.

Instead of running a million miles per hour, slow your speed down and enjoy every single day. Each day is a gift so stop treating it like you’re promised another.

BONUS TIP: design a career you love so enjoying your life isn’t reserved for vacation

The craziest thing about coming back from my two week European vacation was that I didn’t have the scaries! Let’s be clear, I could have continued vacationing and my first day back was packed with lots to do, but I actually looked forward to resuming my work (I can promise you that wouldn’t have been the case in my former life)!

I know I feel this way because I’m doing what I love and I’ve created a life I don’t need a vacation from. I think every single one of you deserves that.⁣

You deserve to take time off and do the things you enjoy, but also return from that break to make money doing something you love.⁣
