Whether you’re a freelancer, entrepreneur or just want to get out of a stuffy space, I’ve got you covered. Below are some of my favorite places to work remotely in Chicago (in no particular order)! Scroll to the bottom for a reader exclusive promotion!

The Allis at Soho House

West Loop | www.theallis.com/

If you’re in a creative field or just like feelin fancy, The Allis is the place to be.

Vibe: Elegant decor, creative people, noisy atmosphere and comfy couch seating

What to order:

  • Food: The Allis All-Day Breakfast, avo toast (a clear decision for my fellow basics) or if you want something light the olives and nuts are yummy!
  • Drinks: Coffee is the obvious drink of choice when working. However, if you’re a tea lover, they serve it in a kettle (which is a great bang for your buck). And let’s be honest, sometimes you just need a good cocktail or glass of rosé. No judgement here.
Limitless Coffee

Fulton Market, River North and Millennium Park | www.limitlesscoffee.com/

If you need a place to inspire you or want an Instagrammable coffee, look no further.

Vibe: Bright and clean atmosphere, inspirational brand, entrepreneur hot spot, music playing

What to order:

  • Food: I’ve only ordered the avocado toast and it was tasty! I can’t wait to try the rest of their menu.

  • Drinks: Every drink here is unicorn status. If you want some pizzaz to your day, order a charcoal latte (it has glitter latte art).
Cafe Integral at Freehand

River North | www.cafeintegral.com/

If you’re someone who thrives in candle-lit darkness, then this is for you.

Vibe: Eclectic decor, dark with candle lights, noisy atmosphere and comfy couches

What to order:

  • Food: I’m learning I have a problem. Wait for it… the avocado toast is yummy. Before you roll your eyes, just know that it comes with shaved radishes and pickled shallots! Also, the chilaquiles are something I’ve been meaning to try!

  • Drinks: Any of their coffees. If you order a latte, they serve them in handleless mugs.
Heritage Bicycles

Lakeview (my fav), Sheridan Park, Uptown | www.heritagebicycles.com/

This place is awesome, especially in the summer when you can sit on the picnic benches outside (Lakeview). Regardless, it’s a really cute coffee shop to work in!

Vibe: Unique bike & coffee shop combo, bright atmosphere with cute decor, small shop so limited communal seating

What to order:

  • Food: I’ve only had a donut here and it was delightful. But let’s be honest,  I’ve never met a donut I didn’t like.

  • Drinks: Can’t go wrong with any of the coffee. I love their lavendar latte and cold brew!
Alliance Patisserie

River North | www.alliancepatisserie.com

This is an unassuming gem of a place. It also backs up to an adorable courtyard!

Vibe: Quaint bakery with limited seating, bright with natural light from courtyard windows, quiet and relaxed atmosphere

What to order:

  • Food: I’ve never ordered from here because I’m scared I’ll never stop. I did, however, get to try a “messed up” pizza themed sugar cookie and it was NOM.

  • Drinks: Cafe Miel FTW
Beatrix

River North, Streeterville, Fulton Market, Loop |  www.beatrixrestaurants.com

Beatrix is a great place for some yummy eats and good vibes.

Vibe: Vibrant restaurant with lots of seating, very busy during brunch and lunch, great eats

What to order:

  • Food: For lunch, I love the Enlightened Caesar with salmon or the Mushroom Quinoa Burger. If you want a snack, the Kung Pao Brussels Sprouts or Hummus are yummy. The Kennebec Fries are a non-negotiable. Get them. And yes, I’ve had the avo toast here and you could probably guess my opinion on the matter…
  • Drinks: All the lattes are delicious. I also really like the Cucumber & Mint Soda. Again, never opposed to ordering a glass of prosecco.
Dollop

Streeterville, River North, Uptown, Evanston, Ukrainian Village, Loop, Andersonville, South Loop, Near North | https://dollopcoffee.com

As you can see, there’s no shortage of Dollops around the city – clearly they’re awesome. I’ve only been to the Streeterville and River North locations.

Vibe: Clean and bright atmosphere, modern decor, great coffee

What to order:

  • Food: Broccoli Cheddar Quiche – you’re welcome in advance.

  • Drinks: Can’t go wrong with any coffee here. I personally like the Honey Cinnamon Latte. They also serve adult beverages at some locations!
Aster Hall (upstairs bar area)

Gold Coast | http://www.asterhallchicago.com

If you haven’t been to the newly opened food hall yet, you must go! It’s located on the top floor of 900 N. Michigan Shops and it’s so cool. They curated some of Chicago’s favorite restaurants in a chic casual dining experience. Lots of booths to work out of and the bar area upstairs is prime working area.

Vibe: Clean and bright atmosphere, chic modern decor, great food, spacious, plenty of seating

What to order:

  • Food: All solid choices
  • Drinks: Same as above
3 Arts Club Cafe

Gold Coast |http://3artsclubcafe.com/

This is one of my favorite places in the city! If you want to feel fab-u-lous, this is your place.

Vibe: Upscale and chic atmosphere, natural lighting, cozy seating, busy and noisy

What to order:

  • Food: Fries are a must. Salads are great here and the shareable plates are perfect if you’re working with a few people.

  • Drinks: I’m not going to pressure you, but getting some bubbly is probably a good decision. If that’s too aggressive for your day, the lattes and hot chocolate are delish.
3 Greens Market

River North|www.3greensmarket.com

Cozy coffee shop meets good eats! This place is bustling with entrepreneurs.

Vibe: Casual hipster, cozy couches and communal seating, fairly quiet

What to order:

  • Food: The amazing thing about this place is that it’s not only a coffee shop, but also a market with a salad bar and a Small Cheval. Could you ask for more?

  • Drinks: They have everything – great coffee, adult bevvys, pop (or soda whatever you call it) and juices!
